Who Am I
Volunteer Gardener
My name is Anne and I am a volunteer gardener at Grandma’s Pudding Co.
I was born in London and have lived in a number of different places over the years, including Kent and Sussex, before eventually moving to Lincolnshire. I spent more than 40 years working in social care and also trained as a hypnotherapist, so caring for and supporting others has always been an important part of my life.
I have two sons, a stepdaughter and four grandchildren, as well as four dogs and a cat, so family and animals are a big part of my life.
I first met Carol through drumming classes. At the time, I had become quite isolated following the loss of my husband in 2017 and moving to a new area. Meeting Carol and becoming involved with Grandma’s Pudding Co. gave me the opportunity to meet new people, reconnect socially and begin a new chapter in my life.
A couple of years later, I offered my time as a volunteer gardener and have now been part of the Grandma’s Pudding Co. family for over two years.
Gardening and nature have always been things I love. I enjoy helping to design and look after the garden, planting, weeding, potting and generally keeping everything cared for. I also love recycling and upcycling, and I often find things that might otherwise be thrown away and turn them into something interesting or useful for the garden.
For me, gardening is about much more than plants. It gives me a sense of calm, creativity and purpose, and becoming part of Grandma’s Pudding Co. has played an important part in my own healing journey.
I really enjoy being part of such a welcoming and supportive environment and contributing to a place where everyone can feel valued, included and part of something special.
“The team at Grandma’s have given me a purpose again, become like family and helped me with my healing journey.”
Outside of volunteering, I enjoy gardening, nature, music, reading and upcycling, as well as spending time with my family and animals.
I am very grateful to be part of Grandma’s Pudding Co. and to be able to contribute to such a special community.
